스티븐 L. 쿡(Stephen L. Cook)예일 대학교에서 수학했으며(M.Div., Ph.D.), 현재 버지니아 신학교 교수로서 구약 언어와 문학을 가르치고 있다. 아울러 세계성서학회(SBL) 북대서양 지구 책임자를 지냈으며(2011-12년), 북미종교학회(AAR), 북미동양학학회 (ASOR), 가톨릭성서협회(CBA) 등 다양한 기관에서 활동해왔다. 저서로는 Reading Deuteronomy (Smith & Helwys, 2015), The Social Roots of Biblical Yahwism (Society of Biblical Literature, 2004), The Apocalyptic Literature (Abingdon, 2003) 등이 있으며, New Oxford Annotated Bible, Harper Collins Study Bible, The New Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible에 서문과 주석 및 소논문을 기고하기도 했다
